Helping Your Skin Survive COVID-19
Practicing self-care is always important, but now more than ever! Here at Beautiful Skin Studio, our doors may be temporarily closed, but we’re here to help. This is a pretty confusing and chaotic time for all of us, and I know that many of you are missing your treatments and are afraid of losing the progress we’ve worked so hard for. So I thought I would put together a little ‘How to Stay Sane and Come Out of This Quarantine With Your Skin in Its Best Shape” list.
1) Don’t slack on your home skin care routine!
I know that I’ve pushed for wearing less makeup while practicing social distancing, and my Stylist friends have pushed for their clients to wash their hair less… however, one thing that should not get pushed to the back burner or stretched is your home care skin regimen (or brushing your teeth… but that’s a different topic). If you don’t have a current home care routine now is the PERFECT time to start one! I recommend washing your face morning and night with a gentle facial cleanser; then applying your Viktoria DeAnn corrective peptides (remember they have to ‘rest’ for 90 seconds between each layer); spritzing the skin with a hydrating tonic of some sort- I’m currently using Lira Clinical’s Hydrating Mineral Mist, but I know many of you LOVE Skin Script’s Hydrating Cucumber Toner with hyaluronic acid and heavy water, which is also what I end each of my facials with that everyone thinks smells like something sweet and not cucumber; applying facial serums in order of thinnest to thickest- remember uv rays break down vitamin a, so use retinol only at night or you’re wasting your money, I also choose to use my vitamin c serum in the morning for extra protection from environmental and uv assaults; after serums, seal everything in and hydrate your skin with your favorite moisturizer… obviously apply SPF in the morning as well! I am currently using Lira Clinical’s Bio Lift Creme that has been newly reformulated with advanced peptide and epigenetic technologies, lots of plant stem cells, and shea butter for the perfect lifting hydration! You also know that I am OBSESSED with Lira Clinical’s BB Brite SPF 30, and I honestly think that every person on the planet should be using this product! I am currently running a Retail Promotion- Buy 2 items and get 1 -50% OFF! This promo will end at 8pm on Wednesday, March 25th.
2) This is the perfect time to start using an at home mask.
I recommend doing an at home mask no more than 1-2x a week, and make sure that the mask is appropriate for your skin needs. For example, if you have dry sensitive skin, you shouldn’t use a clarifying or detoxifying mask… this would just dry your face out more causing irritation and possible breakouts. Opt for a nourishing or hydrating mask instead, this will leave your face happy and glowing, the extra hydration will also plump the cells helping to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Dry sensitive skin should also be careful with brightening masks, these often have ingredients that can lead to more sensitivity when already sensitive. If you have any questions, text me, I’m available!
3)Gently exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
This is a tricky one for me to recommend, I do have some of my clients using at home exfoliants, but as a rule I’m not really big on people exfoliating themselves- I would rather you come in for regular treatments to get professional exfoliation that won’t cause irritation or sensitivity, which in turn can accelerate the aging process. However, since we’re missing some professional treatments, continuing to exfoliate dead skin cells off of the surface of skin so that your home products can work properly for you is important. BUT NO PURCHASING JUST ANY OVER THE COUNTER EXFOLIATORS- text me first. NO OVER THE COUNTER SCRUBS AT ALL, these can damage your skin leaving it red and sensitized! Enzymes and Chemical exfoliators are a much better at home choice. Lira Clinical’s Pro Anti-Aging AHA/BHA Pads are perfect for an at home treatment, helping to exfoliate, correct, clarify and brighten the skin. If you have thicker skin, and are experiencing more texture Lira Clinical’s Mystiq iLuminating Polisher is a great option. This brightening masque and scrub is gentle yet effective, and promotes a youthful glow while minimizing pore appearance. Lira Clinical’s ICE Clarifying Scrub is the ideal option for skin that is more oily, or experiencing more congestion. This scrub gently polishes away dirt and oil, while benzol peroxide manages acne and breakouts, plant stem cells heal the skin.
4)FOR THE LOVE OF GOD- NO PICKING!!!
I know we’re under some trying times right now, and if you’re anything like me you may end up getting a few ‘stress’ break outs. I got one last week, but I did not pick at it, I used my spot treatment instead and it was gone within 2 days. Picking it will only make it last longer and could even cause a scar! Pleeeeeeeease, Pleeeeeeeease, Pleeeeeeeease don’t pick at your face! Lira Clinical’s ICE line has a spot treatment that I love for home use. Or use your at home High Frequency wand to spark those pesky breakouts away from the inside out. Don’t have an at home High Frequency wand? text me and I’ll send you a link to one you can order. This tool is a life saver with hormonal breakouts!
5)Try something NEW that you’ve been wanting to try, but haven’t had TIME.
For me it’s going to be dry brushing. I’ve always wanted to try dry brushing, but haven’t found the time before now. Benefits of dry brushing include exfoliation, increased circulation, invigoration, stimulation of the lymphatic system, elimination of toxins and detoxification of the body. This also aids in digestion, and improves cellulite/balances fat deposits.
Please reach out to us with any questions, and in the meantime practice some self love! Take care of you and your families, stay healthy. I can’t wait to see you all again in the very near future!
